What to prepare before requesting a renovation estimate.

You do not need every answer before reaching out. A few specific details can help us understand your home and what you want to accomplish.

1. Describe the problem you want to solve.

Instead of only saying “remodel the bathroom,” describe what needs to change. You might need more storage, a different shower layout, better use of an alcove, or updated finishes. Separate your must-haves from ideas you are still considering.

2. Share useful photographs.

Start with a wide view of the room or outdoor area. Then add close-ups of the details involved: the trim profile, cabinet opening, flooring transition, or worn decking. For a deck, include the stairs and railings. Photos are a starting point; they do not replace site measurements or an assessment of concealed conditions.

3. Gather the information you already have.

Room dimensions, drawings, cabinet specifications, and material selections can help define a scope. Let us know which items you have already purchased. If you are still choosing materials, say so; the selection and availability of those items can affect the plan.

4. Be open about timing and budget.

A preferred start date and a budget range help focus the conversation. A bathroom renovation, a built-in shelving project, and a door replacement each involve different decisions. The estimate should reflect the actual work and site conditions.

5. Include your project location.

Send your town and state so we can confirm service availability. Artifex is based in Danbury and serves the communities listed on our Connecticut and New York service-area page.
